Warsaw, the summer of 1939. Paweł (starring Tadeusz Janczar) is a young lad from a wealthy family who prefers shady clubs from fancy ballrooms. One day he meets Lidka (starring Maria Wachowiak) – an attractive dancer and spends a night with her in the “Quo Vadis” guest house. They meet a couple of years later – the war is almost over and their lives are completely different. „Farewells” was awarded at Locarno Festival. This film is one of the most classical Polish melodramas – it will be shown from the vintage 35mm film tape and will make you feel the atmosphere of  the ‘old cinema(s)’. The film screening is also a great opportunity to learn about work by Wojciech Jerzy Has (“The Noose”, “The Saragossa Manuscript”) – one of the most extraordinary Polish directors who has always put the image over the reality.
