The latest film by Jan Jakub Kolski based on the real fate of the director’s grandparents. In post-war Poland, parents want to bury their „denounced”; son on a quiet land – they set out on a journey, during which the couple, and quickly three characters, traverse the newly liberated Poland. The hero's body is rotting on their cart – this is hard not to be interpreted as a metaphor of the post-war fate of the country. The film, despite the historical mask, talks a lot about the present: about the mourning and ways of working it out; about the attitude to other nationalities and ways of living; about how to be a decent man in hard times. The Pardon was awarded at the Gdynia festival for the script, costumes and the best female role (Grażyna Błęcka-Kolska).
GUEST: Paweł Kosuń – producer.
