Screenings

Once again we asked to join our workshop part foreigners from Wrocław and together with them we planned the Schedule. 

Yesterday, today and tomorrow – the title of a classic of Italian cinema (“Ieri, oggi, domani”, dir. Vittorio De Sica, 1963) served as a pretext for us this year to create a series of meetings around Polish cinema from three different time orders. We will show classics, contemporary works and consider the future.

We are giving a voice to our audience. From now on, Polish Cinema for Beginners will have a strong component of co-creation by foreigners, no longer limiting itself to educational functions for foreign nationals but also incorporating the aspect of event programming education.

The first part of the project will be an open call for Class of 2023 – a working group that, under the guidance of experienced tutors, will create the program for the entire year. The program will be divided into two parts (spring and autumn), offering a complete way to spend time not only in an entertaining form (film) but also promoting integration and education aimed at grassroots initiatives, having a real impact on the cultural landscape of Wrocław.

We focused on the theme “Newcomers” – newcomers captured in Polish cinema. Little did we know how relevant and necessary this topic would become.

The series consisted of 10 internal and outdoor meetings over the year, revolving around migration, with particular focus on our neighbors from Belarus, Germany, and Ukraine. We showcased both feature and short films and, after the screenings, we discussed cinema with special guests.

In its 15th season, titled “Debuts,” we explored the most interesting debut filmmakers in Polish cinema in recent years. The screenings were organized at Czasoprzestrzeń, a unique cultural center located at Tramwajowa 1/3.
